I must say even thought Ive been reading these oh not so good reviews about "Blindness" I still want to see it so bad.

Nick and Norah's Infinite PlaylistDirected by: Peter Sollett
Toronto Rating: 8 out of 10

What do you get when you throw an awkward heartbroken music lover and a socially misfit rich girl together in a car for a night in New York City? One of the sweetest romantic comedies all year long - Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. It's tough to compare comedies, especially when Tropic Thunder (which is one of my current favorites), couldn't be more different from Nick and Norah, but here I am comparing the laughter in one to another. As of this moment, I would call this film one of my favorites of the fest, but that might change as time goes on. It's not the newest timeless comedy classic, but the film's charm is overwhelming and should leave audiences with a smile on their face.

As I already mentioned, the story is about too awkward high school kids named Nick (Michael Cera) and Norah (Kat Dennings) that end up spending a night together driving around New York City falling in love. It's not that simple, but it is a romantic comedy where the story pulls itself together as the film moves on, give or take a particular moment where I thought all hope was lost. Right from the beginning, we see that Nick and Norah are made for each other, but it takes time and overcoming personal faults on both sides for each to realize that. The brilliant soundtrack and musical selection is as exceptional as anyone might expect, but the chemistry between Cera and Dennings wasn't as strikingly perfect as I'd hoped it would be. The two worked enough to convince me, but it wasn't as pristine as Juno.

One of the biggest problems with films like this is that I set my expectations too high, and I wanted to see the next unforgettable punk rock Juno with an awesome soundtrack and great love story. Alas, that wasn't exactly the film that Nick and Norah was, instead it was full of stupid humor surrounding Norah's drunk friend and some writing choices that weren't as polished as they should've been. Overall it's a fine film that younger audiences will definitely fall in love with themselves, but it has some flaws that detract from the overall experience. If you love high school humor and awkward comedies as much as I do, then give Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist a chance - I'm sure you'll find an entertaining and sweet film just as I did.

BlindnessDirected by: Fernando Meirelles
Toronto Rating: 6 out of 10

Fernando Meirelles is a filmmaker who I've been anxiously following ever since I saw City of God. Blindness is his latest film, an apocalyptic and considerably brutal drama adapted from José Saramago's novel about an epidemic of blindness that overtakes the entire world. It's very hard to actually "enjoy" a film that's as cruel as this, but I'm not going to say that this film doesn't have its merits. Meirelles is a very talented filmmaker and both Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo do a great job in the lead roles, but the film has such a wicked story that after a certain point audiences will get tired of watching it.

From the very start, we see that a mysterious "disease" that instantly causes blindness brings out the very worst in people. Ruffalo plays an optometrist who looks at the man's eyes but can't find anything wrong. The next morning he wakes up blind as well, but remarkably his wife is still able to see. The government rapidly starts to quarantine those who are blind and sends them to wards in an abandon insane asylum. As the numbers grow and the disease spreads, more and more blind people are dropped off into the hospital and a society begins to form. Unfortunately the worst in human nature starts to creep out and the already disgusting conditions get worse when one of the wards confiscates the food and attempts to sell it back to everyone else, all while Moore remains the only person who still has sight.

I actually really love Meirelles' filmmaking aptitude - he's an powerful creative talent that just needs to given a sandbox big enough to play in. Blindness has all of the visual elements down, in fact the visuals in it are absolutely genius, but the story and the brutality pull the film out of that beauty and into the darkness. Meirelles has done a fantastic job of allowing the audience to experience all of the other senses that a human has without sight: specifically, sound and feeling. These are subtlety highlighted in Blindness in a remarkable way, courtesy of Meirelles' creativity. And his use of white glows and entirely white frames was also a brilliant way of giving the audience a glimpse of how it feels for all of these people.

Unfortunately I wish could speak so highly of the story and of the film overall, but I can't. Blindness really fails to succeed on the apocalyptic levels like I Am Legend and is often-times too revolting to enjoy. It's a good film, but most will find it a challenge in itself to sit through - good luck!

Disclaimer:This article belongs to firstshowing.net copyrighted. Yes you already guessed theres another movie coming out but the cast might still be a mistery to you, we´ll here´s a brilliant piece of news I recently found.

The next one will be a "Batman Forever" (1992) kind of movie and the villains played will be The Penguin and The Riddler. There is an interview were Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth) scooped that they already had two people in mind to play them. Í will rather post the interview because it´s quite funny to read and you´ll get the drift better. Enjoy:

So Caine is like the rest of us, reading gossip in the tabloids, right? Except for one thing…according to the actor, he confirmed the news through the studio itself.

“When Christopher [Nolan] said we were going to do ‘The Dark Knight’ next, I didn’t what that meant in Batman terms,” related Caine, who plays Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth. “I said, ‘What’s the story?’ and he said The Joker. I said, ‘Oh, s–t! How are you going to top Jack [Nicholson]?’ He said,

‘Well, I’ve cast Heath Ledger. And I went ‘Ha! I couldn’t top Jack, but if anyone could, maybe Heath could.’ And he did.

“I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’” [Laughs]

Well their you have it. I personally love Johnny Depp not only for him but for his works. His is acting genious and well another Batman Movie I absolutely dying to see. Whats not to love when the second one had your favorite missed actor and the third one will too!! I´m super exited ...However this is not totally confirmed yet so there´s a chance it´ll change. (Phillip Seymour denied these rumors already)

Well Until Next posts! =D

Original Piece By: MTV News copyrighted
Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* New Music: Locksley "It´s Gonna Blow Your Mind"

So I recently discovered Locksley swooping around Myspace and I went wild I mean this band is something else. Coincidently they were chosen as MTV´s Artist of the Week this week. (Don´t be Scared =P)

They are not a signed band which assures you your gonna get some amazingly creative music and well they sound like a european 60´s band with a little bit of an edge. Their sound, as they admit, is The Beatles meets Garage Rock. They aren´t really a copy of the Beatles but you feel the good vibes that music always brings. If your still thinking about it I suggest you listen to this.

They come from Winsconsin originally but are in Brooklin, NY; the curiosity is that as they couldnt get signed they decided to do everything themselves and they even made their very own EP called "Dont Make Me Wait" which they just re-released (Sept 9). The songs are catchy and good plus it doesnt hurt they have style and looks covered too. My favorite song was "Let Me Know" which has a nice drum beggining and just made me want more and more. I encourage you to check it out and leave them some love God know´s they deserve it.

Cheers to Independent thinking and Real Creativity!

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* VMA's 2008 : Total Nonesense! *

It's MTV's 25th birthday so what do you expect? An awesome kick ass show! Something worthy of the name and to its leagacy. What did we get? A mess of mediocre performances and a show totally dedicated to boost the confidence of Britney Spears.

Yes I was completely dissapointed and I'm preety sure all fans were...well except if your a hardcore Pop fan then today was your day. The venue (Paramount Lot in Hollywood) was not VMA worthy I mean they used the Palms last time for God's sake! That was the first mistake then there was the nominees! Frankly I do advocate for choice making and having an opinion but honestly letting the fans choose the nominees was totally wrong. It doesnt show the real desearving talent. It was obvious when in Video of the Year (Which is the most important award) had the Jonas Bros and Pussycat Dolls, or even the Ting Tings (Which I love) on them! Come on they are fairly new and they havent done anything really meritory. Total idiocy...I believe the only prize that was fair was Chris Brown's best male, he totally deserved it. I clapped incredibly when Slash practically snorted when Linkin Park was anounced winner of the best rock video!??! I mean COME ON the song doesnt even fit in rock! It's sooo stupid...Paramore or Foo Fighters would have been a more suitable choice. But hey it was all about pop and ass kissing on this years VMA's.

Britney had'nt won a Moonman ever! (I wonder why?) she has a major crisis and what do you know Voila! She wins all her nomination's prizes. Coincidence? I think not. She was visually disturbed and out of it the whole time...Please in the beggining of the show, which by the way MTV made such a deal about, she covered her face with the microphone talked incredably fast and ran off. Honestly she has issues and she should do herself a favor and call it quits. I feel no pity and I think the Moonman's were totally wasted, If the Jonas Bros won something it would have been worse...thank God!

Russel Brand wasn't the best host ever but he did make me laugh enough times to give him a 2 star rating. I just love the unorthodox comments he was right in reffering to Bush in that way and yes American's should do the world a favor and vote for Obama. Its just common sense. Ive been reading opinions about Russel in Entertainment weekly and I was impressed at the amount of people who where, dare I say, offended by his comments on Bush, the republicans and Palin! Oh and the virginity remarcks of course. It's preety lame I mean the guy is supposed to make jokes about stuff like that people get so serious about it when it wasnt a big deal at all. So the Jonas Bros wear a purity ring and he made fun of it...Fine ! It was really funny and they are just sissy boys for getting upset about it. They should have laughed at him I mean they just shouldnt give a damn what the guy thinks in the first place.

Then there's dear Jordin Sparks. She just blew up! I mean what the hell was she thinking, it's okay to diss Russell by sticking up and saying abstination is so awesome and personal but she just when overboard and said "Because some of Us dont want to be SLUTS" She actually said that. What the hell? I mean now shes gonna say your a slut if you have sex before marriage dude honestly her fans wont forget this and not to mention the millions of girls who have had sex before marriage and like her. This will leave a negative mark on her career. Mark my words.

The performances honestly lacked I mean it all seemed recycled from the artists tours. Kid Rock was a joke I mean what was he thinking singing that particular country song? And then with Lil Wayne of all people? Give me a break. Pink delivered the best performance of the night and even then I wasnt surprised at all plainly because I didnt like the song that much. Kanye West dissapointed me completely the song wasnt good, he has more to offer than that, and too slow for a VMA ending. It wasnt the right choice. Paramore was good keeping the rock legacy intact with their "concert gig" type performance very strong. Rihanna was more of the same and really doesnt compare to past appearences, and to tell you the truth I dont even remember anyone else who performed "big". It had to be bad when it was completely forgetable.

The karaoke type performances were dissapointing in the fact that you couldnt actually see them. You just saw a few seconds and commercials came in not good at all. I would have loved to see the Ting Tings rock it. DJ Am and Travis Barker where awesome I liked their set allot throuout the show. The jokes the celebritys made seemed soo acted out...read out I should say because it was telepropter magic. Gosh! Couldnt they just learn it? Or improvise! I mean if they are sooo talented they could at least manage that.

The Twilight Cast appeareance was awesome (Im a Fan!!) to me one of the few highlights of the whole thing. But Russell killed it when he interrupted Robert! Hoow Rude! But...I liked him haha Let me remind everyone that Russell wasn't as rude as other presenters like say Sarah Silverman which I totally loveeed! When she stood up and said what she tought of celebrities whic should be done more often to give them a most needed reality check. Oh before I forget Tokio Hotel??? Emo bands?! What the hell?? Totally unnecesary award this is something I expected of the Latin VMA's because in Latin America, I say this with shame, Emo bands rule. Believe me there are more emo kids in Mexico and Chile that in the whole eastern hemisphere Im not even kidding. But hey another dissapointmen of the night. Miley Cyrus? A joke enough said.

MTV's Worst Birthday Ever!

Well Please share your opinions! Until next posts...

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* Out and Back Again*

Hellou Everyone =D

Okay Im really aware of the still going slow traffic but still if you are reading this now I thank you! I just downloaded my own copy so I'll break it down for you.

The song starts with a nice hit of piano and slow guitar strings. Leading into a guitar riff and well the song actually starts. The sound is constant and mellow, Dylan is true to his folky rock style and it clearly shows things havent changed much since he started in this business. His raspy voice hasnt seen the damage of years remaining just as it was. The lyrics are nice mixing from the textual love focused theme but it's really a narration of a journey. Hi voice speaks of something other then the simple literal meaning of the theme. It's very deep and filled with meaning, these are some of the best lyrics I've read recently and well what could you expect of Dylan? Nothing less no doubt.

The light in this place is really bad
Like being in the bottom of a stream
Any minute now I'm expecting to wake up from a dream
Miss so much, the softest touch
Like the grave of some child child
Who neither wept nor smiled
I'm hiding my faith in the rainI
've been dreamin' of you
That's all I do
And it's driving me insane

Somewhere dawn is breaking
Light is streaking across the floor
Church bells are ringing
I wonder who they're ringing for
Travel under any star
You'll see me wherever you are

(...)

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* Dishing the Nonsense: Heidi Montag *

Ok... No one. Im sure of that, no one will ever forget Queen's timeless hit about killing a man and that great conversation with his "mama". It was feactured in the "Wayne's World" soundtrack and I will never forget the car scene where they all sing the bridge of this song. Queen had a way of taking a song and making it a story with all it could possibly need. Freddy Mercury's voice is unbelivable and in this song... well ok its just awesome! Even people who hate rock have to agree they liked this song with it's mix of modern and classic musical elements. Honestly one for the ages.

Moving on we have Alanis and Aerosmith. I choose the 1995 hit "You Oughta Know" and "Crazy". Alanis scream of anger when she says you oughta know is so great I mean if it wasnt for that part of the chorus I wouldnt really like the song to be honest. I love that squeal and yes I mean I guess we have all been throught what she sings about, relationships always end leaving the worst behind sooo "She's here to remind you". A very good song for early Alanis fans and really shows her off. The there's "Crazy" by Aerosmith. I dunno if the music video was even better than the actual song. What girl didnt want to Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler in that preety blue convertible?? I knwo I did. This is a 1994 hit and truly one of my favorite Aerosmith songs but ok lets face it the video was better haha.

Finally we go straight to Dublin, Ireland for some U2 hits. This time Im reffering to the hit feactured in "Batman Forever" : " Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me". Well fine this is not U2 at its finest but it did bring some mellow feel to the decade. It's a nice relaxing and interesting tune again this is not the song that stands up in U2's career but hey its worth a listen if you ahve never heard it before. The last sont I'm gonna add wasn't planned for this post but really it doesnt matter. It's 1991 hit "Loosing My Religion" by R.E.M. They recently made a comeback, a good one I might add because I love the new CD check it out, but I think this is their landmark song. It is great and the sounds are just perfect for it. They added a kind of chinesse mandolin sound to give it real originality and the lyrics are well really good. They just have a quality that makes you want to keep listening each time and go listen to new songs or maybe its just Michael Stipes unusual voice. I really like this song and it has become quite an institution.
Well kids go ahead and dip your toes into the 90s I can assure you, you wont regret it :P Part Three is comign real soon with Goo Goo Dolls, The Cranberries and so much more !! Until next time!

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* November Means Business*

Yes yes! Movies are coming! The scheduled releases for November in particular are quite awesome! Im really hoping to see them and really I can't wait until they arrive on theaters. The beauty of cinema huh?

There are three releases I want to highlight specially: "Twilight", "Quantum of Solace", and "Australia"

The first release Twilight which comes on theaters November 12 comes as a huge awaited premiere. It is based on the firs novel, of the same name, of the Stephenie Meyer Saga. I have personally read the book and I must say I'm incredibly impressed. The book is simply amazing and will leave you wanting for more each time. I picked it up because I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I had heard that this book could feel the emptyness after HP and I have to admit it was even better. I feel bad saying it but I loved it even more. The movie seems just as awesome as the book however bare in mind that book readers almost always will be dissapointed at that great part of the book filmakers dont use in movies but either way this promises to be an amazing visit to the movies. The cast is led by Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen. Directed by Catherine Hardwhicke this promises good things.I know I'll be there!

Prediction: **** stars

The second release has to be Quantum of Solace the second James Bond Movie for Daniel Craig. I must say Im not THAT exited about the release, mainly because Casino Royale was a letdown in some parts and I had to watch it three times in order to fully like it. It is highly anticipated because fo the fact that it is a 007 movie but let's face it Daniel Craig is not that cool. The movie is directed by Marc Foster (Genius behing "Kite Runner", "Finding Neverland", and "Monster's Ball") and is scheduled for release on November 7th. The Bond Girl in this fil is Olga Kurylenko which in my opinion is not that preety sigh* compared to last I mean. The plot is not a completeley new story it actually runs what happened directly after "Casino Royale" so that means things will clear up. Im gonna watch it probably but my expectations are not high.

I might add the theme song is not that good check it out on Youtube.

Prediction: *** stars

The third release that comes out November 14th is "Australia" there are more releases but this one appealed to me specially. It stars NicoleKidman and Hugh Jackman and directed by Baz Luhrmann. When you begin to watch the trailer it would seem like a western which doesnt appeal to many people but keep watching because theres more to it than simply that. I dont wanna go into myself so Im gonna post the synopsis from firstshowing.net: A romantic action-adventure set in northern Australia prior to World War II, Australia centers on an English aristocrat (Kidman) who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Jackman) to drive 2000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country’s most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier. With his new film, Luhrmann is painting on a vast canvas, creating a cinematic experience that brings together romance, drama, adventure and spectacle.

Prediction: *** and a half stars

Other Good Releases are:"Madagascar 2" (Nov. 7), "The Soloist" (Nov. 21), or
"Role Models" (Nov. 14)

Below the photo I added the "Australia" trailer because I guess thats the one you'll need convincing. =D Enjoy

More Info @ firstshowing.net =D
Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* The Killers : Exclusive Tracks*

Maybe you already know this but if you dont here it goes. The Killers have been playing two new songs in shows around Dublin and a special show in New York's Highland Ballroom. The show in New York was mainly for members of their official fan club "The Victims".

As you can imagine the singles have leaked and are all over youtube in low quality recordings but still they are there. The two singles are "Spaceman" and "Neon Tiger". I already heard them and I must say its high quality work again. I particularly have loved every single album they have delivered because of their uniqueness and well simply because they rock! Their musicis preety difficult to describe firmly because it doesnt have a constant string of melodic sounds, it constantly shifts around.

I reccomend you don't listen the new singles one right after the other one because you wont appreciate them as much. One seems to follow the other one and in a continuos way it seem like only one song. =D Your choice however. You can find the videos in youtube I recommend the ones of the Highland Ballroom which have the best quality but in the mean time I leave you the lyrics for "Spaceman". (Excuse the layout of the lyrics...they may vary in alingment)

It started with a low light Next thing i knew they ripped me from my bed
And then they took my blood type
It left a strange impression in my head
You know that i was hoping
That i could leave this starcrossed world behind
But when they cut me open I guess I changed my mind

And you know I might
To loath too far from the fort this time cuz they calling me by my name
And the shimmering white lighting disregards the bones and satellites
That was the turning point That was the lonely point
The songmakers makes so bad The dreammakers couldnt make you mad
The spaceman saids everybody look down! What is is that appeals girls all over the world to feel this passionate love for this supposively "rock band" called the Jonas Brothers.

It is such an insult that this is called a band when in reality this is simply mass produce crappy pop. There has even been reports that they have pre fabricated songs and I by this I mean the have copied old songs and made them "new". Ok they just suck. In these times a preety face can get you anything I guess and it is such a shame because they are talentless. Even I could pull this off by taking some provocative pictures, hire someone to qrite me a comercial song and the make a double track of my voice so it sounds preety! Example: Brooke Hogan haha ok sorry I just had to say it. You know what would be sooo awesome, that the world would eventually discover they arent even brothers haha that would be funny.

Ok so I guess its not fair to dish without proof so I'm prepared to give it in a musical point of view. Did you know the real talent is Nick Jonas? Well yes, in fact he was signed alone in Columbia records and has appeared in Broadway Shows since he was seven. He made an album but it was pushed back marked as a potential money loser for the label. When the new chair of Columbia came he listened to it and hated it but when he heard Nick Jonas had brothers decided to sign them toguether. Point 1: No talent, they initially sucked and are now signed becaus ethey had "market potential" meaning they would produce money because of corny songs and cute faces.

They hit stardom because their songs were feactured in kiddie shows all over Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Of course the real deal came later when they hit it with Disney Channel. This proves point 1 again. I honestly believe they are overated they shouldnt be given so much credit for masterpieces they clearly dont make. Yes, fine keep them for the kids that is totally understandable but dont torture mature people 'cause it hurts to see this kind of music kill something so much better. It's a shame.

If you think Im just overeacting listen to this they have label them the next Beatles! I was so offended. George Harrison and John Lennon must be turning in their graves. Lets compare two songs shall we?

The Beatles "Happines is a Warm Gun" vs The Jonas Brothers "S.O.S"

"S.O.S":

So this is where the story endsA conversation on I.M.Well I'm done With textingSorry for the mis communicationOooh This is a S.O.S.Don't wanna second guess This is the bottom lineIt's trueI gave my all for you Now my heart's in twoAnd I can't find the other half

Ok.. please refferences to IM andthe missed their other heart. In this occasion I will concentrate on the music that in my opinion marked the decade and hopefully it will make you sing allong remembering that first time you heard them.

The hits go from the Goo Goo Dolls to the Smashing Pumpkings. I will be embarrased to admit some of them but yes even if today I obviously know better we have to admit the hits the boy bands like NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys made. Let's face it even if today we dish britney and corny people like her this was the decade where we just loved her and sang along to "Hit me Baby One More Time..." Oh those happy times!

My first song is "No Rain" by Blind Melon. When you look at the video you think it could not be from the 90s because it looks rather seventy's like. The song is incredible from beggining to end. It comes from 1993 and I must say (And please if you dont think so tell me I dont know much of the band) this was a one hit wonder; the case for many artists post 80s and 90s. Wasn't that cute little bee awesome =D

Okay this is an obvious choice and maybe one of the greatest songs ever, "It Smells Like Teen Spirit". Yes...the name does come from the deodorant and the lyrics are a little ambigous but God those sounds are just mezmerizing. The guitar riffs and the bridge are really cool and the changes of pace, possibly taken from influences by The Pixies, are just very original. Too bad Kurt died. (1991 hit) RIP

There was also a huge line of simply funny stupid songs that even today are heard with the same intensity. Im taking about "I'm Too Sexy" (Right Said Fred), "U Can't Touch this" (MC Hammer), or "Rico Suave". You just cant help but laugh.

The last hit for this first part has to be Radiohead. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, the very experimental "Creep". This is their very first released single from 1992 and what a big hitter. When I listen to this song theres nothing else in my mind, it is so cleverly made and the sound is awesome. Radiohead has been a ver consistent band in all their history; their latest album "In Rainbows" is really good, it's like they havent changed at all and I'm so glad.

Well keep cheking back for more of the 90s hits that will be coming your way.

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

*From London to Philly*

I had left my blog for a couple of days because I was preety sad dealing with some situations but you have to move on right? So I'm back and I bring two new bands for you to check out.

The first one had their debut album in 2007 but for many they have just become really buzzworthy. They are featured in Myspace as a "Band To Look For" and they are worth a listen. I'm talking about "The Hoosiers"; they are from London and are from the growing indie movement I love to hear about. Their sound is very unique with influences like Modest Mouse, Radiohead, and Arcade Fire althought I feel some electric trance influences as well. You may have heard of their song "Worried about Ray" in the radio (It has a beggining that sound like the oldie "Happy Toguether") but they have other good songs like "Goodbye Mr. A" and "Run Rabbit Run". They are currently on Tour so check the calendar, they may be nearing to a town near you!

More info: myspace.com/thehoosiers or thehoosiers.com.uk

The second band comes from Philadelfia and their debut album comes out September 26th. They are an alternative rock band with a cool California sound. Weird huh? Well this is not your typical FOB band or nothing like that. They are reaally cool...unfourtunately they belong to a major record (Columbia) so expect they'll be bigshots in a while and if that happens the good quality they have right now could be trown out the window so enjoy while you can. I'm reffering to Valencia; they are on tour as well promoting their soon to come album and new single "Holiday". This song is good however I truly reccomend "Where did you Go". You can find the songs in their myspace page.

More info: myspace.com/valencia or valenciamusic.net

Using myspace is a nice way to make up your mind on new songs and bands; you can get the scoop on new things and well be in the know. But of course this blog is a prime resource for this so just stay tuned and I'll let you know the new music coming our way =D

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* Add To your Must-See Places*

Today I came back from a place that I really liked. It is an island visited by many tourists year-round and you should honestly add it to your must-see places in this world. I'm talking about Bocas del Toro, Panama.

It is an island aproximately 9 hours from Panama's capital, Panama City, and it is a group of islands across the northeastern coast of this country. I personally stayed at Isla Colon or Colon Island which is the major island of the whole group. It is a hippy-boheme place filled with small streets and little restaurants everywhere . There is something for every taste; from Cuban food to Peruvian or Indonesian. Truly a mix of cultures everywhere.

There is only one big time hotel; the other are little hostals and hotels on mainstreet. I stayed at Hotel Vista Mar which I totally recommend. It has a restaurant with an awesome view and very comfortable accomodations. Well..this is really not an advertisement for the hotel so I'll move on. Picture this: At night you walking across mainstreet watching many little shops selling hand-made jewelry and local goods for tourists, Rastafaris which are everywhere but are very cool, restaurants lit up, little bars with lots of people from all over the world, it's really magical.

The beach is nice, however not a big deal if you have been to beaches in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic or Cancun (Like I have had the pleasure =D), but it does not have white sand or extremely clear water. The spotlight is clearly the town. I had a nice expirience renting a bike and cruisin along the island, this is very normal as you see people on bikes everywhere exept the occasional pick-up truck taxi. I could be a local for a couple of hours and its really cheap. ($2 dollars and hour, $10 dollars a day)

I truly reccomend you visit these islands you wont regret it.

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* Youll Be Buzzin' and Rockin'*

This time I give you two singles that are completely different one from the other. One is a rock song from a veteran band that have always known how to bring the good stuff to our ears and the other a new artist with hip hop- alternative rhythms weird huh?

Im talking about new rapper Shwayze and the band Seether. The first, Shwayze's "Buzzin", is not my usual choice to listen to but the song is just perfect to chill out at the pool or your bed. It combines rap with some acoustic guitar rock; the mix is perfect and even thought the lyrics are not the best thing ever the music definetly overshadows that part. Dont expect a huge hitter but something to relax to.

The second one, "Rise above this" by Seether, is the usual alternative rock sound characteristic of the band but it doesnt dissapoint. It comes from the 2007 CD "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces" (Clever Name huh?) and I really like it. The music and Lyrics are preety good, it's ideal for all you who don't like all these new things coming out and stay with that good ol' rock that has alaways stirred our senses.

Check them Out here!

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* Come September *

Picture this: Gina Lollobrigida and Rock Hudson in a beautiful villa in Portafino, Italy. Simply Awesome but as the movies tag line says "Then came the teenagers..." Thats exactly the plot of this 1961 film "Come September". I recently saw this film for the first time and it truly captivated me. Gina is absolutely stunning and Sandra Dee also shines in this great movie about relationships and youth.

The plot starts when Robert L. Talbot (Rock Hudson), an American millionaire, arrives early for his annual vacation at his luxurious Italian villa. His long-time girlfriend Lisa has given up waiting for him to "pop the question," and has decided to marry another man. Meanwhile, his sneaky business associate Maurice secretly misappropriates the villa as a hotel while Talbot is away. The current guests of the "hotel" are a group of young American girls trying to fend off a gang of oversexed boys, led by Tony (the leader of the gang). That should get you fired up to see it. You can find it online as well as in Amazon for only $6 bucks (new).

This movie will make you laugh hard and believe me you wont regret it. It's not a cliche filled love film so don't be discouraged. The clothes, the scenery, the people! All of it is memorable.

Come back and let me know if you loved it!

Stars: ***

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* That Little Something Else*

I thought it would be a nice time to include a post about something other thank music and movies. It is not the first time I post about current affairs but this one seems a little for relevant to me now. I have been having some horrible episodes lately where I imagine myself in the moment of my death. Ok.. I know it seems extremely weird but you must admit you have thought about it before. I am aware that I'm fobic about the situation of being in a box, being burned, everything about it. The aspect that scares me the most is not having my mind...not being able to think while everything's happening.

I don't know, of course, what happens and I think that's what scares everybody the most. It is so horrible to feel what I've been feeling, its like loosing my breath suddenly and there comes the picture in my head. I have so many dreams so many things I want to do. My belief is that I;m having these feeling because my faith is not straight. I have been educated in a catholic background all my life but a few years back I've felt empty. That religion really isnt the one for me. I just hate the fact that religions judge you instead of encouraging you.

They are all judging each other all the time and judging other religions, so much hate makes believe it is all simply a joke. It's all the same. I really want to meet someone that'll prove me wrong but each day I seem to come across more htings that confirm what I think. There are three parts of a new CNN investigation called "God's Warriors".

The investigation is divided in three religions: Judaism, Islam and Christianity and talks about, literally, the warriors of the religions. There's no logic in following religions that don't focus on making the world a better place, for everyone no matter what, and instead fight with each other.

Hope I get a answer soon...

For more information about the show go to: cnn.com
Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

*Audrey Hepburn vs Edie Sedgwick*

So I was looking throught my posts and I realized I hadnt dedicated much time to putting myself out there. Yes you can see my love for film and music but it seem like an interest. This time I've decided to dedicated to posts about people I admire and a special theme that is dear to my heart. Yep...Its all about Oldies!

Oldies are the essence of our present and it is a shame that we have lost all of the good things from the past. There are no movies like those or heroines and hunks that make you wish you were living in 1960s Paris or anywhere really; It seemed so perfect. Yes they had the two World Wars to overcome but still I can't help but bow at all of it.

This particular post is dedicated to two women that define my personality; they are truly inspirations to me as a person and they are as different as a hammer and a tomato. :P I like to call them the angel and the sassy devil. They are of course Audrey Hepburn and Edie Sedgwick. One a beautiful starlet from hollywood the other Andy Warhol's famous IT girl.

If I could choose a word to describe Audrey it would have to be elegance probably because even in the worst of situations she just was perfectly poised without even trying. Her sense of style and her awesome haircuts are without a doubt still an inspiration to many; she not only was an accomplished actress and fashionista but also a role model to everyone. She was incredibly modest and generous; even becoming a Unicef Ambassador in her time. All her movies were about being yourself and just having fun. You may think that "Breakfast at Tiffanys" is my favorite movie but you are quite wrong. While Holly Gollightly was an incredible character, my favorite movie has to be "Sabrina". She was just a dream! Well.. that aside there is a good book for all you Audrey Lovers like myself : "What would Audrey Do?" by Pamela Keogh were she writes all about Audrey and how we can all become the elegant lady she once was.

Now of course Edie. She had such a tragic life, her family had serious problems, she was malested, Andy Warhol found her indispensable and well she died of an overdose. It is valid to ask why in the world would I call her a Role Model but I will care to explain. She was always a dreamer and lived a full life, with that I mean she never held herself from doing anything she honestly wanted to do. She was stunning and her sense of style flawless. I like to think that New York was her downfall, she was a talented artist but she traded everything for a shot at stardom as an actress. She didnt do much as an actress, just some of the experimental films of Andy, but the camera loved her. Two of her most famous films are "Ciao, Manhattan!" and "Afternoon". I guess her only fault was being naive; but even so everytime I'm up for some fun Edie will always be there to comfort that feeling.

Here are some good videos of both awesome girls:

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* My Chemical Romance Covers Bob Dylan*

Here's a scoop! The upcoming movie "Watchmen" (Comic) is causing a stir between fans awaiting the movie to premiere. In the latest Comic Con which is still on the first complete trailer of the movie was presented and believe me no one was dissapointed. But one of the best things was, for the curious of course, that the trailer came with a surprise. The soundtrack of the movie will only have one new song and it will be a cover of Dylan's "Desolation Row" by My Chemical Romance.

It is quite a shock, for me at least, the choice of a gothic sort of emo band to cover a brilliant song as this but I waited to find a preview to see what was in store. You cannot get a copy yet, only bad live recordings, but I managed tu rimage over all the videos out there and found one were you can actually hear the song. I must say I was impressed; its not Dylan of course but it is preety damn up to standards. The sound is rock, quite different from Dylan's sultry folk sound, but it doesnt kill the song I mean even if you totally hate this hand you are going to have to admit they did a preety good job.

There is an interview that MTV is feacturing in ther webpage with Gerard Way precisely about this cover so I encourage you to check it out. http://www.mtv.com/

I'm not a comic fan but I ment into "Watchmen" to find out what it was about because when there is so much people screaming for it there has to be something good right? Well not always but this promised to be something interesting. The movie is directed by Zack Snyder the maker of hits like "300" and "Dawn of the Dead". I instantly thought that the trailer would be with all this incredible mumbo jumbo of effects that would make the whole thing so unreal it would be downright stupid. But well not so much because he decided not to use Chroma Key. It is jampacked with effects yes but thank God not incredably overdone. The trailer seems preety cool I just loved the motion it was played at and the song!!! Ok.. The song of the trailer is Smashing Pumking's "The Beggining is the End is the Beggining". Believe me after watching the trailer you'll have the song in your head and the movie in your dreams. I say that because you have to wait 'till next year but hey you get a good preview.

More info: www.firstshowing.com or www.watchmenmovie.com

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='George W. For this post I chose Oliver Stone's new movie "W". The movie is about how George W. Bush lived before he was president and exactly how he got to the White House. The trailer is quite reassuring to the opinions many people all over the world about the president of the United States. So Bush haters you wont be dissapointed.

The whole trailer shows the drinker, violent and junkie Bush leading to the Bush you now know. The movie in my opinion is not a sure 4 star even but it should provide a few laughs and an entertaining visit to the movies.

In the movie Josh Brolin will play the part of Bush and Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney. Condolezza Rice is also played. The cast is not made up of extremely over renowed actors but I must say most of the look the part and could pass as the real people the play.

Predicted Stars: **

Here is the Trailer as always Feedback is welcome.

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

*Dishing the Nonsense: Katy Perry*

Ok.. So I just had to start dishing some music in my blog and I chose a nice song to start. First off all this is my personal opinion, I begin by saying this because many are offended when this type of ''popular'' mass media music is critized. Let's face it for us music lovers that actually appreciate it this will always be an ongoing frustration. We can't change the moneymaking world, mass media is just meant to make useless music to sell and well they have the right to do it.

''I Kissed a Girl'' ...Yes bear with me. Katy Perry hit stardom with this single about her huge discovery : She likes kissing girls as much as boys. GOD...Thats the only word I could say when the video passed in MTV. I mean really? When I see these kind of things I just remeber one of the genius Andy Warhol quotes '' In the future everyone will be world famous for fifteen minutes''. Sadly this is true. You see new artists like Perry rising into celebrity status for things that are stupid, superficial and honestly lacking. She has such an interesting voice, not to forget she is soo preety and her style so cool (Love it! So Retro Chic) but the words are just well theres really no words to honestly describe it.

I honestly dont know if it is just that I hate Pink Power Pop but it is just ridiculous! Good bands rot because they can't get airplay or contract and we see these people hugging the radio. I wanted to add a piece about High School Musical or even Miley Cyrus which are other sad excuses in music but I refrained because you just seem to get more frustrated when you actually analyze how much good music there is and what a small amount most of the world's population actually hear.

Words of the wise In case of airplay emergency just use your MP3's players earphones and relax your ears have been saved =D

haha.. He first heard his calling while introspecting in a camping trip, in the landscape of the Rocky Mountains he discovered he was in this world for something else than just Hebrew School disruptions.

He discovered a new love for his heritage and for his God which he started nowing recently. He traveled to his roots in Israel were his curiosities picked even further into discovering Jewish religion and his culture.

Matisyahu combined the rhytms of Bob Marley with his own and the result was the unique mixture of spiritual infused reggea we listen to today. Not only does he spea of his love for Judaism in songs like "King without a Crown" but also sends possitive messages of peace and concience to the Youth he once was a part of. He boasts fans from all over the world and truly inspires. In my personal opinion he is incredible. No one else has made spiritual music REAL or even believable. No cliches, no weird stuff. Everything about him is truly original and good.

No Hallelujas there.

Long live and bring Music to our ears! =D

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* One of My Favorites*

I had to dedicate a post to one of my favorites movies of all time...A classic in my mind.

The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)

It has something for everybody: history, love, a hero, a story, a gorgeous leading man! All of it in one movie. The movie is led by, the awesome mexican actor, Gael Garcia Bernal as the young Ernesto "Che" Guevara. Its the story of how Guevara and his friend,Alberto Granado (Who wrote a book about the journey also used in the movie) , went from Argentina all across South America in a motorcycle. This was in order for Guevara to fullfil his wishes to help people as a doctor with this peasantry. Thats the basic plot but there are so many twist and turns in the story that you'll be craving more each minute.

Gael is simply remarkable in his role as Guevara, which is such a dinamic character to play, and gives the movie that spark. Every time he smiles you just cant help but shine inside. It's in one word terrific.

For all those history buffs like myself; the movie is not at all about revolutionary "Che" or the politics of Latin America, its about the latin community, the poor and sick, and the good will of a great man.
This is Pre-Revolutionary "Che" at its best.

The movie was directed by Walter Salles (Brazil) and written by Puertorrican, like me, Jose Rivera. Salles has a premature career but has filmed "Dark Water" (2005), Loin du 16e in "Paris Je t'aime" (Awesome Movie!!!) and has some upcoming films like "On the Road" (2009). Yes the novel will become a movie by initiave of Francis Coppola and Selles could be the director. Another scoop, Brad Pitt could be the lead Dean Moriarty. Ill keep you posted.

There are many choices of videos to post for this particular movie but I chose two good ones. The first one is a recolection of some of the best scenes in the movie including el Chipi Chipi. (You'll love that one) the second one is the extended trailer for the movie.

Stars : ****
Before I end I must give you a recomendation in music. There are many new films in all genres coming but there is one in particular that caught my eye.

Personally I like literature and believe latin writers have allot to offer. In this occasion the film I cam across is an adpatation of Jose Saramago's "Blindness". The movie, of the same name, is directed by no other than Fernando Meirelles (City of God) the outstanding brazilian director. The movie is led by a reasonably good cast: Juliane Moore, Gael Garcia Bernal and Mark Ruffalo.

The basic idea of the movie, to get you exited, is a city which is struct by a sudden epidemic of blindness in its citizens. Could you imagine a city were no one could see? That alone made me wonder how would things be and how the movie was going to unfold. The movie was filmed mostly in Sao Paulo,Brazil but also includes settings in Ontario, Canada. As always my love for villains prevails and my most anticipated part of this whole thing is Gael's performance. I just can't wait to see him trying to take charge of this whole city. This is definetly something to watch for.

The movie promises to be an interesting visit to the movies. Lets hope this will be a hit for Meirelles because its been a while since he has delivered.

Stars predicted: ****

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

Why So Serious?

WOW ... If I could summarize in a word what my expirience was watching The Dark Knight that would certainly be perfect.

Just as I had predicted the movie was terrific and Heath Ledgers performance the best part of it. Ask anyone! The thing was that Batman's story for the movie wasnt as interesting as all the stunts and spills the Joker pulled on Gotham City. I think, if you already saw it, you might agree with me in the fact that the real main character of the movie was indeed the Joker and not Batman.

Christian Bale's performance was slim but promising for the next movie. Maggie Gyllenhal was good in her lady in distress character. I really dont want to add any spoiler at all because I know curiosity will make you click it but Ill say in advance there is one part where Maggie is simply brilliant and you truly feel her despair. (Youll know what I mean :D )

"Did I tell you how I got these scars?" I cant get enough of that line. I loved the fact that the symbol of the villain was empowered in the movie. It wasnt a corny-predictable ending where Good triumphed over Evil and the movie was over; the villain gets his way and you end by wondering what will happen next, you crave more. The only thing that maybe threw me off was the duration...It felt like Spiderman 3 all over again. Maybe it should have been like 30 minutes shorter, something like that, cutting the BS that was present in some parts. (Cliches)

Heath wont be in the next one unfortunately so lets hope the next movie will come soon and is even better than this one.

Award: *****

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

The Recipe for Pure Thoughts

Have you heard of alternative-funky-eclectic band Hot Chip? Ok.. I most admit to me they seemed corny and plain stupid when their first single "Ready for the Floor" came out, they were catchy yes but they simply lacked.

However I came across their new single "One Pure Thought". It is simply mezmerizing! The rythm changes are awesome and the video is cleverly put toguether. It turned my head and made me download their music. The video was made by Bevis Martin and Charlie Youle two extremely talented artists from London,England. (Also the makers of the Long Drinks video for The Young Knives)

Mission Accomplished for them in capturing one more listener; I hope you enjoy it and as always feedback is always welcome =D

For more input: martinandyoule.com + hotchip.co.uk

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

*Buzzworthy*

Not all in life is fashion, music and movies...Sometimes there is more to life than all of this material happiness we enjoy and cant live without. The world around us is important and the problems concern us all.

Genocide in Africa...War in the Middle East...Global Warming...Fuel Crisi...Energy Crisis

Those are some of the many problems that continue to affect our world and also our lifestyles. Sometimes I think this is inevitable, that nature needs to balance itself and thats why people die or even that the heat we are suffering is part of the cycle of life of our planet. It seems that the entire world thinks that because day after day change isnt a common word.

Wouldnt it be nice to find a way were you could help by simply thinking...without much work. Because yes.. Let's be honest we are blind because we are a little lazy sometimes. I even admit to that. But we have a solution! What would you think if we told you that you could help the world just by using the MSN Messenger? Probably say..Yeah Right. But its actually very true.

Its called the I'M initiative and it works as you chat with your friends. Now when you join the program (for FREE) every time you talk to a friend a donation will go to entity of your choice. You can help fight AIDS, Global Warming, help animals, or even the Children in Africa (My Personal Choice)

Go ahead and choose your favorite entity and give a little everyday!! Make a positive Difference!

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

* Summer Movies 08 *

The summer lineup of movies is always a thrill for cinema enthusiasts. It leads after Cannes and features what are supposively the creme of movies of the year. However this year has been vastly dissapointing. From Hancock to the Indiana Jones movie it is actually a lineup of comercialism more than anything. Nothing has exited me or given me that awesome chill down my spine.

However to me there is still hope... With July comes my most awaited cinema feature: Batman's The Dark Night. Heath Ledger's last and the second of the new Batman movies. The first of this series, Batman Begins, was incredible in my opinion. Filled with both action and the actual history of the character which was interesting to the viewers eyes.

Heath Ledger is personally one of the main reasons Im gonna run and see it. Not only am I a true fan of his craft but he gives an unexpected twist to whole predictable scene. His character, the joker, has long been represented as a funny little guy with some horrible ideas down his sleeve. This time Heath projects him as a dark character...A true villain. Nothing unexpected if you have seen the old Batman movies of the 90's.

The other cast members Maggie Gyllenhal and Christian Bale are impecable actors and are sure to deliver some good thrilling fun. Directed by Christopher Nolan this movie to me already deserves 4 right out loud stars. I hope we all enjoy it and do please come back with your own view on the movie.

Blogging Fusion Blog Directory

*Nice Tune, Nice Show*

Especially but not exclusively for latin users we present the recomendation for this issue.

Brazil and Mexico join toguether in the figures of Julieta Venegas and Marisa Montes in the MTV Unplugged of the mexican singer. The industry is filled and more and more people have decide to forget comercial mumbo jumbo and listen to authentic indie artists.

For those currently scratching their heads Indie refers to artist who are represented by an independent record label company.

However nowadays this is not always how they classify artists. With this I mean that for example The Velvet Underground is mentioned as the founders of indie music when in fact they belonged to a huge record label. If the music is somewhat experimental, mixes incredibly different rhythms, actually is from independent label, or is plain weird its Indie. This summer its all about them because the radio is filled and they are perfect for all our summer activities. Beaches, poolsides, jacuzzis...You name it...It works.

If you are new to the genre I sugest you explore these artists and give Pop a rest. Nothing against it but believe me youll get something good out of Indie music.

Here is my Top Ten list for the Summer Boom:

*1- MGMT- Time to Pretend

This is already a preety big band but well its Indie.
